‘Jeopardy!’ Fans ‘Screaming’ Over Pop Culture Question Flop

A set of Jeopardy! contestants left viewers disappointed after they failed to correctly answer a question related to pop culture icon and rapper Drake.

On Monday (April 8) night's episode of the long-running game show, part of the 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament–or "JIT" as host Ken Jennings called it–all three contestants were baffled by a phrase that social media users appear to know well.

The tricky puzzle was part of the "Slanguage" category and it seriously flopped with contestants Amy, Victoria and Andrew, who flew through the more challenging questions.

"An update of 'taking care of' this is 'standing on' this, which Drake helped popularize," the $200 clue read.

After a few moments, the buzzer signaled that the trio was out of time as they all stared at Jennings with confusion.

"None of you say, 'Standing on business' apparently," Jennings quipped. "But Drake says it's the next big thing," he added of the rapper's lyrics from his 2023 release "Daylight."

Internet users were equally as astonished as the host, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to essentially roast the contestants–all of whom were vying for a spot in the next Jeopardy! Masters tournament.

"Business! Busy screaming #Jeopardy," one wrote.

"'Standing on business' was a @Jeopardy clue today and I am weak," another shared.

A third, seemingly in disbelief of what they saw, took to the social media platform to say, "'standing on business' made it to a Jeopardy answer." While a different user similarly called out, "'Standing on Business' was just an answer on Jeopardy."

"Watching Jeopardy and nobody got the Standing on Business answer," someone else mocked.

"What is Standing on Business. @Jeopardy," another correctly answered.

Still, there were a few viewers that didn't understand why the clue was included in the first place.

"Why did they just make one of the answers on jeopardy 'standing on business'?" one perplexed fan asked. "These poor souls had the most confused look on their faces, they had no clue what the question was talking about."

"If I were playing, I think it would have been worth $600," another shared in part via the comments of the YouTube replay.
