Jennifer Lopez's $25 Million NYC Penthouse Took an Astonishingly Long Time to Find a Buyer

Jennifer Lopez has been looking to lighten her real estate portfolio for quite some time, and that day has finally come. The 54-year-old actress is bidding goodbye to her New York City penthouse in the Madison Square Park area — and let’s just say, it was up for sale for quite a long time.

Lopez’s chic Manhattan residence is under contract for $24,990,000 million, according to her luxury realtors, Brown Harris Stevens. What makes this piece of property so astonishing is that it took the Marry Me star seven years to offload it, and the right buyer finally came along for the 6,540-square-foot duplex in the sky. The new owner is going to have plenty of amenities to boast about with its four bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms. The building has an on-site health club, views of “the iconic Flatiron Building and Met Life Clock Tower,” and a doorman to tend to the property’s four units (Chelsea Clinton is a neighbor!) — it’s very exclusive.

The owners are definitely paying for the exclusivity, too. The monthly maintenance fees are listed at $13,747 and the monthly real estate tax is equally expensive at $12,670. That might be the reason why Lopez struggled to find a buyer over the last seven years. According to The New York Times, she originally bought the property in 2014 for $20.16 million. She hoisted it on the market only three years later for a whopping $26.95 million and had no luck attracting a buyer. Per People, the residence ping-ponged on and off the market with price cuts that dropped it down to $25 million. Now, it’s finally sold.

The timing couldn’t have been better because Lopez and husband Ben Affleck have reportedly been touring properties in New York City while she films Kiss of the Spider Woman. The New York Post captured the dynamic duo touring rental properties and townhomes up for sale earlier this month, so they seem open to both options right now. Any place they plant their roots will have to offer plenty of space for their blended family since they share five children together: Violet, 18, Finn, 15, and Samuel, 12, from Affleck’s marriage to Jennifer Garner, and 16-year-old twins Emme and Max from her marriage to Marc Anthony. Their full-time residence is a $60 million home in Beverly Hills which they purchased in June 2023 after a long search.
