Since her breakout role in the 1997 film “Selena,” Jennifer Lopez has created a name for herself as a prominent figure in the fashion realm. She has served as an ambassador for brands like Coach, Versace, and Guess. Her motives in the industry have awarded her collections with brands like Revolve and DSW, which have been seen on several red carpets, including the annual Met Gala.
This year, the actress will be taking on the role as a co-chair at the Costume Institute Gala, alongside Bad Bunny, Zendaya and Chris Hemsworth. In the past few weeks, she has admitted that she is still unsure of what this year’s look will be, which leaves many reminiscing on her previous ensembles. Since her first appearance at the annual fundraiser in 1999, the actress has kept up her reputation of bringing extravagant looks to the iconic museum steps. Aside from her Met Gala debut, she has completed every look with a pair of platform heels.

Shining Heels
Making her Met Gala debut in 1999, Lopez walked up the museum steps wearing gold open-toe sandals with a cream gown. The barely there silhouette featured a metallic finish against the leather upper. The ankle strap connecting to the footbed supported the height coming from the stiletto heel, which was about 3 inches tall.
Suede Platforms
The actress attended the 2013 Met Gala in a leopard print Michael Kors dress, which she paired with black platform pumps. The heels featured a suede upper and an almond toe. While the heel was hidden from view, the pumps’ platform sole peeked through the front, showcasing a base that was about 2 inches tall.
Strappy Sandals
Peeking through her sparkling sheer gown, Lopez walked the red carpet at the 2015 Met Gala wearing red sandals. The upper was most likely composed of satin as a sheen comes off the double-toe strap and the geometric ankle design. The set was completed by a platform sole that was at least an inch tall.
Peep-Toe Pumps
The actress attended the 2017 Met Gala wearing a sky-blue chiffon gown with a pair of grey platform heels. The set featured a peep-toe design created by a sheer toe strap. Totalling about 6 inches of height, the pair was completed by a block heel and a metallic platform sole that created a mirrored look on the carpet.
Black Platforms
Matching the feather-embellished train of the gown she wore to the 2018 Met Gala, Lopez stepped into black platform heels. The suede heels featured an angled strap against the almond toe. A panel hugged the heel while connecting the thin ankle strap to the stiletto heel that was about 5 inches tall.
Holographic Heels
To complete the sparkling gown she wore to the 2019 Met Gala, Lopez slipped into a pair of silver sandals. The holographic heels featured a thin toe strap against the almond toe. The ankle strap supported the height coming from the platform sole and stiletto heel that was about 5 inches tall.
Metallic Platforms
The actress arrived at the 2021 Met Gala wearing a brown plunging gown with silver heels. A crossing strap design decorated the ankle and almond toe. The metallic set was completed by a platform sole and a stiletto heel, which with their combined height, added about 6 inches to the look. Sparkling Sandals
To attend the 2023 Met Gala, Lopez paired a cutout halter gown with black heels. The set featured a satin upper which was accompanied by a crystal embellishment along the toe strap. The set was supported by a block heel and a platform sole that elevated the look about 6 inches.
