Felicity was a show all about getting into one's feelings, which may be why Jennifer Garner's audition for the show was so successful.

In an interview on The Ringer's Dear Felicity podcast, Garner recalls auditioning for the show and having to have a good cry in the bathroom due to the emotion of the scene.

Discussing what “must have been the breakup scene," Garner said, “I remember the audition. I remember going into the bathroom after because the scene was so emotional and I needed to cry."

She continued, “I needed to hide in the bathroom stall and finish the cry that I started in the audition because it was such a powerful scene.”

Garner guest starred as Hannah Bibb, the ex-girlfriend of Noel Crane, portrayed by Garner’s then-husband Scott Foley. Hannah was Noel's long distance girlfriend with whom he breaks up on Thanksgiving, after Hannah reveals she's been spending time with a dude at her college.

Series co-creator J.J. Abrams had Garner come back and re-audition for the role, and the two eventually developed a working relationship — Abrams later cast Garner as agent Sydney Bristow on Alias.

Despite the toilet waterworks, Garner praised Abrams and fellow Felicity creator Matt Reeves, calling them "true directors who are "helping guide you to the best version of whatever you show up with.”

“That was true in the audition process as well," Garner added. "After the first read, then I really was invested and was like, ‘Oh gosh, I really wanna do this.’”
