On Wednesday’s fifth episode of “Survivor 46,” the Siga tribe lost their first immunity challenge and finally had to attend tribal council. Despite a so-called “girl’s alliance” being created in the season premiere, Jemila “Jem” Hussain-Adams was shockingly voted out (with a hidden immunity idol in her pocket, no less) when Maria Shrime Gonzalez and Charlie Davis decided to join up with the boys instead. Read on for Jem’s “Survivor 46” exit interview from the end of the episode.

Holding up her idol to the camera after her ouster, Jem exclaimed that she just made “the dumbest move with an idol in my pocket!” She sighed, “Honestly, I did not expect this. This was a total blindside tonight, but it was really fun for me.” A light-hearted Jem concluded, “I love that I replanted the Beware Advantage and got them digging for three days, so it serves them right they vote me out.”

To recap, Jem found the Beware Advantage early in the season, but could not open the box until after her tribe lost an immunity challenge. When they finally lost in Episode 5, Jem returned to the same spot and discovered a new clue that would lead her to a key. It was a massive brain-teaser in which she had to measure distances using a machete and then solve a math problem. She discovered the key and opened the box, finding her immunity idol. Jem chose to keep everything a secret, so even her closest allies, Maria and Moriah Gaynor, had no idea any of this happened.

Jem had quite a bit of fun over the past three days watching her Siga tribe mates dig up a random hole they they thought contained an idol, because she had planted the Beware Advantage in that spot to throw them off. She remarked during the episode about how she’s a “fantastic liar” on the island, despite not being able to lie at home because she always giggles.

At tribal council, Jem told host Jeff Probst that she had no idea who to vote for … which was a lie because the girls and Charlie had agreed to split their votes between Ben Katzman and Tim Spicer. She then jokingly asked Jeff if she could vote for him, to which he responded, “You can’t write my name down, Jem — I’m here forever!” In the end, Jem was booted by a 4-2 vote over Ben, with Ben not able to vote and Maria using her two votes for Jem.
