Jane Seymour, 69, clarifies comment about being able to play 25: 'I did not say that'

Did you hear the one about Jane Seymour, 69, saying that she could play someone who’s 25?

Seymour herself clarifies in a new interview with Yahoo Entertainment that a quote attributed to her last week was inaccurate.

While the headline for a story in The Times of London read, “Jane Seymour: ‘I could play someone who’s 25 — and I’ve had no surgery,” she takes issue with that description.

“Let’s just set the record straight: I did not say that,” the Wedding Crashers actress says.

Seymour does recall that she had a conversation related to that with the director of her upcoming TV series, Glow and Darkness. They were talking about flashback scenes, in which her character was much younger.

“I said, ‘Well, you know, if you think I can do it, then you can do all that digital stuff, that’s fine,’” Seymour says. “The director told me two days before that he did not want anyone else playing the other scenes. Unbeknownst to me, he went and shot with another girl on that Monday before I ever did it. I went, ‘Oh, well that’s curious.’ I never said I should play 25. In fact, on many, many occasions, [I] told him that I thought that was probably be a stupid idea.”

The truth is that Seymour usually looks impressively fit and vibrant, regardless of her age. She attributes that to more than good genes.

“It’s about healthy living. It’s about taking good vitamins. It’s about drinking lots of water. It’s about having a positive attitude,” Seymour says. “Everything in moderation. I suppose that’s my mantra.”

No doubt because of that, she’s able to maintain the same weight for years. Impressively, she can still fit into some of her old costumes, many of which she’s kept.

“I break them out and wear them, absolutely,” Seymour reveals. “I’ve worn... Gosh, I’ve worn dresses from [1986 TV mini-series] Crossings that [costume designer] Nolan Miller created on many occasions for red carpet.”

She’s also tossed on a look from her ‘90s period drama Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman for a quick Halloween costume.
