Jamie Lee Curtis Just Confirmed This Long-Awaited Sequel & Fans Are Freaking Out

When Lindsay Lohan announced her major comeback to Hollywood a few years ago, there was one project fans kept asking about, Freaky Friday. After all, the 2003 film, also starring Jamie Lee Curtis, was quite iconic.

And while the sequel wasn’t the first of her projects in her Hollywood return, with her recently starring in rom-coms like Irish Wish and Falling for Christmas, it seems like filming for Freaky Friday 2 is officially underway!

The news was announced by Curtis as she shared a sweet selfie of them, who play a mother and daughter who accidentally swapped lives in the original movie, on Instagram. “DUH! FFDEUX!” the Oscar winner wrote in the caption.

In the comments, fans of the movie are obviously freaking out about the news. “I can’t tell you how many times my daughter and I watched this movie when she was little,” wrote one commenter. “Did you really have to make me this emotional on a Friday morning? 🥹” wrote another. “The joy this will bring the world!” celebrated another.

And while details on what the sequel will look like are still under wraps, Curtis previously theorized about what the plot could look like. “Let me be the grandma, let me be the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon,” she told The View in 2022, per Deadline.

“I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today,” she continued. “I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world.”

If you ask us, we’d absolutely line up to watch that. We can’t wait!
