James Arthur got the perfect voice to join him on “From the Jump.”

On Friday, the British singer-songwriter released a new version of the Bitter Sweet Love track, but this time featuring none other than Kelly Clarkson for a soulful, tear-jerking duet.

“When I heard Kelly’s vocals on this, my mind was blown. What a great honor to have someone of her caliber feature on one of my favorite songs from this body of work,” Arthur said in a press release.

Clarkson, for her part, commended Artuhr’s vocals, saying she “was stoked” when he sent her the song, which she described as having a “singer/songwriter vibe with pop elements of catchiness that I really dig.”

“I love singing with artists who inspire me and vocalists I adore,” she said. “That’s my favorite kind of duet partner … The melody is beautiful, and the writing is so great that I was very excited to sing on it with him!”

It’s a full-circle moment for Arthur, who performed a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s song “Stronger” while competing on The X-Factor UK back in 2012. (He won the competition show that season.)

The original version of “From the Jump” was featured on Arthur’s fifth studio album, which he dropped back in January. Bitter Sweet Love featured singles such as “Homecoming,” “Sleepwalking,” and “Just Us.” The new single also comes just in time for the U.S. dates of his world tour, which will see Arthur stop by in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia, and Boston.
