Issa Rae has added some surefire power to her next movie. Deadline reports that SZA and Keke Palmer have been added to Rae’s new buddy comedy film. The film will be produced by Issa’s HOORAE media company under TriStar Pictures.

Rap Sh*t’s Lawrence Lamont has been tapped to direct the unnamed film. Lamont is known for directing a slew of music videos for some of the biggest stars in music. He has previously worked with J. Cole, Big Sean, Jhené Aiko, Kanye West, Nas, and more. Additionally, Lawrence Lamont’s video for Big Sean’s “IDFWU” snagged him a Video of the Year award from BET.

A screenplay written by Rap Sh*t’s Syreeta Singleton is also in the works for the secret movie. The movie’s plot is currently being kept under wraps.

Sony Pictures’ CoCre lab was responsible for getting the project together. After seeing them together on Saturday Night Live, they were interested in exploring SZA and Plamer’s chemistryIssa’s new movie will serve as the TDE singer’s acting debut. The outlet reports that the SOS musician had been sifting through possible scripts and opportunities. However, when she came across Rae’s movie with Keke attached, she knew the project was too good to pass up.

Keke Palmer, the Emmy award-winning talent, has a few movies coming down the pipeline. In January, Variety reported that the new mother had joined the cast for Aziz Ansar’s Good Fortune. Palmer joins a cast already stacked with talent in Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves. Aziz spoke about working with the comedic mind and why he wanted her to join the project.

“Keke is a delight to work with,” Ansari told the outlet. “I’m so happy she’s a part of our cast and even more excited to provide a quote for this press release announcing her casting.”

Palmer is also currently shooting a heist film alongside Eddie Murphy called The Pickup. But the film was momentarily paused after a “freak accident” happened on set. The New York Times released footage of the accident showing an armored truck colliding with an SUV. The collision sent both vehicles off-road as they violently flipped, turned, and crashed. Details of the crash have been kept secret, but it appears that the crash was initially a part of a planned stunt for the film.

All three films are currently without a release date.
