Among the star-studded roster are Zendaya, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Bad Bunny.

We’re just days away from the first Monday in May, which means one of the biggest nights in fashion—the 2024 Met Gala—is almost here.

The annual fundraising event, which benefits New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, will see hundreds of stars hit the red carpet in their interpretation of the dress code, “The Garden of Time.” According to Vogue, the theme takes inspiration from J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same title and corresponds to the exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

Like every year, the gala has an air of mystery thanks to its top-secret guest list and no-phone policy. The evening, which will see almost 450 attendees, is invite-only and boasts a ticket price of $75,000 per person. While the official list will remain under lock and key until the night before, here is everyone we know is, might be, and is not on Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour’s hand-selected, highly exclusive celebrity roster.

Who will definitely be at the Met Gala?

Zendaya

Starting off sartorially strong, it is guaranteed that the Euphoria star will be in attendance, as she is serving as one of the co-chairs of the gala. Zendaya’s grand return comes after a five-year hiatus from the event; she last attended in 2019, when she served up a magical Cinderella gown by Tommy Hilfiger.

The “All for Us” singer described attending the event as both “exciting” and “terrifying” while appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark earlier this month. “Going up the steps is very daunting…this is my first time back at the Met in quite a while,” she added. She also confirmed that her long-time stylist Law Roach will, once again, be in charge of her look, so it’s a safe bet he will also be on the carpet.

Jennifer Lopez

Also among the co-chairs is fashion heavy hitter and Met Gala veteran Jennifer Lopez. Just a couple weeks ago, she revealed she is “still deciding” what to wear, but seeing as this will be her 14th time at the event, it is sure to be fabulous.

Bad Bunny

This year marks the “Me Porto Bonito” rapper’s fourth time attending the Met Gala—his first as a co-chair. He brought his gender-bending, streetwear-suave to the event in back-to-back years, donning a Burberry skirt suit in 2022 and a backless Jacquemus suit and floral train in 2023.

Chris Hemsworth

The prestigious occasion will be getting the superhero treatment this year, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor, Chris Hemsworth, will be making his Met Gala debut. He will serve as the fourth co-chair, alongside Wintour.

Rihanna

The “Needed Me” singer is the only celebrity so far to confirm her attendance this year—which comes as no surprise, as she is basically the gala’s main event every year. Rihanna spilled the beans while speaking with Extra at the launch event for her new Fenty Beauty Soft'lit Foundation in Los Angeles on Friday. She even teased her look, saying, "I'm actually keeping it real simple this year...very simple." Rihanna added she is currently choosing between two dresses that are "very simple-ish...compared to everything I've done."

For her 11th Met Gala, instead of her outfit, she said she’ll be focusing on her glam. "I think it's gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do," she continued. "We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I'm gonna do with that.

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, Ashley Graham, and Emma Chamberlain

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham will host Vogue’s red carpet stream, while Emma Chamberlain will return for her fourth year in a row as the publication’s special correspondent.

Jonathan Anderson and Shou Zi Chew

Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, and Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok, will serve as honorary Met Gala chairs. The social media platform is also the night’s lead sponsor.

Who might be at the Met Gala?

Tom Holland, Ben Affleck, and Elsa Pataky

If the co-chairs are granted plus-ones, then it might be a lucky night for Tomdaya fans, as Zendaya and Tom Holland could possibly walk the Met Gala carpet together for the first time. Hemsworth and his wife, model and actress Elsa Pataky, might also make their Met Gala debut. Ben Affleck, on the other hand, might return to the event with Lopez following a three-year hiatus.

A$AP Rocky

If these plus-ones trickle down to Met Gala royalty, then it is likely A$AP Rocky will also be in attendance, walking hand-in-hand with Rihanna. The gala has doubled as a date night for the music duo twice before; last year, the pair made a very, very fashionably late arrival.

Blake Lively

If past years are any indicator of who might ascend the Met steps this time around, then it’s a pretty safe bet to expect to see Blake Lively. The Gossip Girl alum, who is a reigning queen of the event, has been topping best-dressed lists since her 2008 debut—I mean who can forget her color-changing Versace gown from 2022? While she skipped last year’s gala for undisclosed reasons (though she had recently given birth to her fourth child), it is likely she is among the guest list.

The Kardashians

It is probable Kim Kardashian will also grace the carpet, as she hasn’t missed a Met Gala since 2012. Who she will bring is more of a mystery—last year she attended with younger sisters Kylie and Kendall, whereas in 2022, she brought the whole Kardashian clan and then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Taylor Russell, Greta Lee, Josh O’Connor, and Jamie Dornan

Given Loewe's involvement in the event, there's a good chance some or all of the fashion house's ambassadors, including Taylor Russell, Grete Lee, Josh O’Connor, and Jamie Dornan, will be present. And, if Russel does show up, we can only hope she will use the opportunity to make her couple debut with Harry Styles (who hasn’t attended the gala since 2019).

Lily Gladstone, Ayo Edebiri, Gisele Bündchen, Olivia Rodrigo, Uma Thurman, Sarah Paulson, Cara Delevinge, and Barry Keoghan

According to Page Six, Lily Gladstone and Ayo Edebiri will make their Met Gala debut, while Olivia Rodrigo, Uma Thurman, Sarah Paulson, Cara Delevinge, Barry Keoghan, and Gisele Bündchen (who is rumored to bring her boyfriend Joaquim Valente) will be returning to the event.

What about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce?

It appears there will be a "Blank Space" in Taylor Swift's place this year at the Met Gala. People confirmed on April 29 the pop superstar would be skipping the event in preparation of the resumption of her Eras Tour. She will kick off the European leg of the tour at Paris’s La Défense Arena on May 9.

Earlier this month, it was still up in the air whether Swift and Travis Kelce would make their couple debut at the Met Gala.

“Taylor and Travis are not going to the Met Gala. They passed,” an insider reportedly told Us Weekly in an April 19 story. “They might go as it gets closer, but for now, they are not going.”

The “Cruel Summer” hitmaker hasn’t attended the gala since 2016, but there was speculation that that could change this year as she has appeared more comfortable in the public eye since she started dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. Now, it looks like we'll have to wait and see next year.

Who is not going to the Met Gala?

Jared Leto

Unfortunately, there will not be another feline moment from Jared Leto. The musician-actor told E! earlier this month he will be on tour with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, during the event, but he “will be there in spirit with [his] head and [his] cat wishing everybody a beautiful night.”
