An Iris van Herpen Retrospective Is Coming to Paris

An exhibition celebrating Iris van Herpen's innovative designs is set to open in Paris.
Taking place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the retrospective will feature around 100 creations by the Dutch designer, widely known for her 3D-printed couture gowns. The show, which comes just after the 15th anniversary of Herpen's eponymous label, will take a deep dive into the creative's exploration of cutting-edge technology, including electromagnetic weaving, laser cutting and more.
In addition to the otherworldly garments, the exhibition will showcase contemporary artworks, installations, photographs and more, curated with eight overarching themes, WWD reports. Visitors will also be able to experience the designer's Amsterdam studio along with a space in which viewers can look back at Herpen's past fashion shows.
"From micro to macro, the exhibition questions the place of the body in space, its relationship to clothing and its environment, its future in a rapidly changing world," the Musée des Arts Décoratifs shared in a statement.
The Iris van Herpen retrospective is scheduled to open from November 29, 2023 to April 28, 2024.
