On Monday, April 8, those in the path of totality across a swath of the U.S. got to experience a total solar eclipse—and few were more excited than Al Roker.

NBC broadcast the big event from Dallas, Texas, and New York City, with Roker manning the Lone Star State. In a clip shared via Instagram of the moment the eclipse reached totality, the Today show weatherman could barely contain his exhilaration.

"Oh my god. Almost, Lester [Holt]," the 69-year-old said at the beginning of the video. "There it goes! Yeah! Woo! Oh!"

When the moon fully covered the sun, he remarked, "Yeah! There are the beads! Oh, look at this!"

Seconds later, Roker exclaimed, "We've got our glasses off right now, Lester, looking at the umbra, and it is just amazing."

Another wave of excitement hit when the weatherman pointed out two planets visible during the eclipse. "Oh, look, we can see Venus! We can see Venus over there... And Jupiter is to the left," he shared.
