'I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing': Fox News host Pete Hegseth admits to never washing his hands
Fox & Friends Sunday co-host Pete Hegseth, who was once floated as a possible replacement for David Shulkin to head the Department of Veterans Affairs, made a somewhat startling statement on Sunday’s show about never washing his hands.
“My 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air. I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for 10 years. Really, I don’t really wash my hands ever,” Hegseth said. “I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them. Therefore they’re not real.”
Hegseth’s co-host Jedediah Bila, who was sitting next to him, jokingly replied, “Someone help me.” And she wasn’t the only who seemed a little grossed out. Viewers on Twitter chimed in with comments as well.
Ewwww Pete Hegseth, stay the hell away from me.

Is there a ten-year-old available to enlighten Hegseth on this subject?

Now I just want to know if Trump has ever had a handshake with Pete Hegseth.

Pete Hegseth is a very, very stupid man. https://t.co/qVBHUKBquq

Putting this message out during flu season is dangerous.
Donald Trump considered Hegseth to run the VA https://t.co/GeCYu4IcTK, which is responsible for the health of millions of veterans. He rejects the germ theory of disease, which has been accepted since, um, the 19th century https://t.co/NMqWrabvLa

Pete Hegseth hasn’t washed his hands for over 10 years. Between him and the anti-vaxxers the plague should be just around the corner.

Next times he needs surgery his surgeon should test Hegseth’s theory… https://t.co/68ELDclVVd

We need all responsible citizens to vaccinate their children and carry around a bucket of Purell to pour over Pete Hegseth’s head if they can get close enough to him without developing Tuberculosis or something. https://t.co/nkihtdceOU

Some, however, pointed out that Hegseth was likely just stirring the pot.
People are so dumb about Pete Hegseth.
Do you sincerely not get that he's JOKING?!?!
Meanwhile, in an interview with CBS, Gov of Virginia is fine calling Slavery…..Indentured Servitude!?😳#LiberalismIsAMentalDisorder

Pete Hegseth was obviously joking about washing his hands, and Democrats are obviously desperate for a win against ANYONE lol

And Hegseth himself did have a response to all the reaction on Twitter:
To paraphrase the President from an hour ago:
The Media is so self righteous and ANGRY! Loosen up and have some fun. The Country is doing well (as is my health!)
P.S. I also support drinking from garden hoses & riding bikes w/o a helmet. Cue outrage…https://t.co/BubsAwBtFx

“Look it,” Hegseth said, holding up his hands. “These hands look pretty clean to me, you know.”
