Idris Elba and Wife Sabrina Elba’s Relationship Timeline: It Was ‘Love At First Sight’

Idris Elba famously swore he would never marry again, but that changed when he fell head over heels for his future wife, Sabrina Elba.

“It was love at first sight,” Idris said while appearing on The View in 2019. “I went out on my only day off, true story. It was a Sunday night. I went to this party, and there she was. The rest is history.”

In 2017, Idris was in Vancouver filming the movie The Mountain Between Us alongside Kate Winslet. During a pause in his schedule, the actor went to a jazz bar and laid eyes on the former Miss Vancouver for the first time.

Before meeting Sabrina, Idris was married to Hanne “Kim” Norgaard, with whom he shares daughter Isan, from 1999 to 2003. He was also married to Sonya Nicole Hamlin for less than a year in 2006.

Despite vowing to never walk down the aisle again, Idris and Sabrina wed in Morocco in 2019. The couple have since strengthened their partnership by working together on several projects.
