Ice Spice Being An Android User Divides Social Media, Ignites Phone Debate

Ice Spice has reignited the (insufferable) phone debate of 2011. The Bronx artist posted a selfie of herself using an Android and an X/twitter user responded to the picture, calling her Android use “a turnoff.”

“Ice Spice having an Android is so [sic] turnoff,” the account typed.

The xweet went viral, immediately thrusting netizens into the phone wars of yesteryear. Some accounts sided with the sentiment that texts going green were “disgusting.” “First her being born on January 1 now this? Immigrant core,” one person jabbed.

Other people pointed out that Ice only used the phone because she is a verified Samsung partner. “I don’t agree with the quoted tweet’s statement, but 9/10 times celebrities only use Samsung phones because they’re sponsored,” they typed, including an attachment of Ice Spice using the hashtag “#Samsungpartner.”

Various accounts looked to intensify the spirited debate with more insufferable posts about the two brands. One account spoke about iPhone users using the phone to compensate for their “lack of personality.” Another comment got straight to the point and declared their disdain for iPhone users. “Y’all use iPhones to substitute for your lack of personality and overall ignorance. Imagine frothing out of the mouth over a blue bubble and bullying people for having a brain to utilize other options. I would tell you to grow up, but I think that you’re incapable,” they typed. “I hate Apple d*ck munchers with a passion lol,” another person followed up.

“That just tells me that Ice Spice MIGHT be tech-savvy. I’m still waiting for Apple phone users to tell me how they beat top-tier android devices in anything when their next iterations literally includes features an android had for over a year. But whatever…ignorance is bliss,” an account stated.

Apple fans immediately shot back, presenting a strong case for the iPhone’s perceived superiority. They took aim at Android’s fanbase, labeling their technology a “waste of development.” They also touted the user-friendliness of Apple devices. “Once you have multiple Apple devices and they’re synced, you’ll never think about Androids again,” one person argued. “The sight of an Android in Ice Spice’s hand is a major turnoff. That’s why I prefer Apple,” another person opined.

But unlike 2011, it seems that many more people generally don’t care about brand exclusivity. Accounts began analyzing the need to want to belong to something like #TeamiPhone or #TeamAndroid. They asserted that people shouldn’t care about whatever phones other people use because “it’s not important.” “Consumerism and its effects on society,” one person critiqued. “It’s 2024… please grow up.”

“I always forget that there’s grown a** adults who give a sh*t about this.”

Yep, a debate for the ages.
