HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville Music Office has confirmed the name and dates of the music festival slated for the Fall of 2024.

The name is South Star Music Festival, according to the Music Officer Matt Mandrella. It will be held at John Hunt Park on September 28 and 29.

The initial plans for South Star were announced in October of 2023, the Huntsville City Council voted unanimously to allow Mayor Tommy Battle to enter into a three-year partnership agreement with C3 Presents LLC to produce a music festival.

C3 Presents is well known for music events like Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo.

Battle added that the festival would be a “quality of life” improvement for Huntsville, and will also highlight a potential national, and international, appeal to the event.

“This will have significant appeal and should attract music fans from other states and possibly other countries,” he said. “The investments we’ve made over the years to John Hunt Park are already attracting large-scale sports events, and it’s also what appealed to C3 Presents. It’s the perfect venue for an event of this magnitude.”
