Imagine a world where Tyler Cameron actually became the lead of The Bachelor instead of parlaying his runner-up spot on Hannah Brown’s season 15 of The Bachelorette into a career of being an “American television personality, model, and general contractor,” whatever that last one means, Wikipedia! We almost lived in that world, people, but Bachelor Nation favorite Mike Johnson just gave us the full scoop on why we never got that reality.

“Tyler didn’t want it,” said Mike plain and simple on the @ShesAllBach podcast. “He was like, ‘I’m good, bruh. I got more followers than any other Bachelor will get, I don’t need the money that you give me to be The Bachelor, I don’t want my life...to look like that.’ So I don’t blame him.”

Mike went on to say there are definite pros and cons to being the show’s lead. “You want to find love,” he said of the former. “The negative is everyone and they momma are going to say something about you.”

TBH, he’s not wrong. As one commenter pointed out, “Bachelor cycle is usually they love you as a contestant and then destroy you as a lead. They have to destroy you to make sympathy for the next lead.” I would say take most recent Bachelor Clayton Echard as a prime example, but no one really cared for him as a contestant either 🙃.

All that said, I don’t think Tyler needs much help in the “finding love” department. I mean he did date supermodel Gigi Hadid and in general has a messy super-interesting dating history, so I’d say babes can manage that piece of life on his own! Good try though, ABC!

The best part of Mike’s interview, though, was when the podcast host asked him, “You think he was the first choice before Peter [Weber]?” His response: “Absolutely. He’s Tyler.”

Can’t argue with that!
