Note: Federova was the only Miss Universe to be dethroned after being crowned. The exact reason for her dethroning are unclear, although the official word from the Miss Universe pageant was that she had failed to show up for required events.

As a result of Oxana Federova's dethroning, Pasek was crowned Miss Universe four months after the competition. Pasek had been the first runner-up.
