Heidi Klum arrived in Nice, France on Sunday for the 77th Cannes Film Festival, wearing white sneakers.

The Cannes Film Festival, held yearly on the French Riviera, showcases and screens highly anticipated films from around the world. For 2024, the festival will take place from May 14 to May 25, starting with an opening ceremony that will award Meryl Streep with the Festival’s Honorary Palme d’Or. This year’s event will also feature prominent attendees, including Anya Taylor-Joy and Demi Moore.

Klum is rarely seen wearing footwear that isn’t supported by a heel. Last week, she showcased leather knee-high boots on Instagram for a “Germany’s Next Top Model” promotion. Her most recent red carpet look featured black satin pointed-toe pumps at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in April. Just a few days earlier, she was seen arriving at the “America’s Got Talent” studio in silver metallic pumps.

About the Shoes

The model slipped on a pair of white sneakers for the occasion. Primarily covered by her wide-leg jeans, the leather shoes featured a rubber sole and perforations on the toe box. An engraved detailing sat on the side of the lace up closure.

Several stars have been seen wearing sneakers this month including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who wore a Dior pair during Formula One in Miami last weekend.

Since then, the sneaker industry has become a phenomenon with brands like Nike and Adidas creating a following that allows them to sell out styles within seconds. Along with the rubber sole, the basic composition of a sneaker relates to the lace up closure and closed silhouette. The retail market is saturated with several reinterpretations in various materials and supportive levels.
