Hear Robert Durst Call His Lawyer from Behind Bars in Exclusive First Look at “The Jinx: Part 2”

The second installment of HBO's hit true crime docuseries premieres on Sunday, April 21

HBO's The Jinx was one of the most groundbreaking documentaries in the true crime genre. And on Sunday, April 21, fans will finally get a deeper look into Robert Durst and the murders that have shadowed his luxurious and suspicious life.

The Jinx: Part Two premieres April 21 on HBO and streams on Max. But viewers can get an early look at the documentary series’ second installment in an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE.

In the clip, viewers listen in on Durst’s phone call to his lawyer from behind bars.

“Steve, it’s Bob. I was arrested in New Orleans this afternoon,” Durst says.

“By who?” his lawyer responds.

“By the FBI,” Durst explains.

“Oh boy,” his lawyer responds.

Durst explains to his attorney that he was arrested while carrying a revolver, roughly $80,000, and a “phony ID.” Durst’s lawyer then asks him how he’s doing in jail.

“I’m alright,” Durst says. “I mean, I’ve been here before.”

Durst then explains to his lawyer that the FBI arrested him and told him there was a warrant out for his arrest in Los Angeles, and that they were executing that warrant.

“Oh boy,” his lawyer responds again, appearing at a loss for words.

The six-part docuseries will air every Sunday through May 12 and will be accompanied by The Official Jinx Podcast, which will “look back on the development of Part One and cover Part Two in-season weekly, with behind-the-scenes moments, clips from the cutting room floor, and real-time updates on the ongoing events and players involved in the case,” according to a press release from HBO.

The original 2015 miniseries, directed by Andrew Jarecki, focused on Durst’s life as a real estate heir and the accusations that he was responsible for the murders of his wife, Kathie, and his close friend Susan Berman.

The series won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming.

The Jinx’s finale in 2015 included one of the most infamous bombshell revelations in true crime: When Durst seemingly confessed to murder. The moment shocked even the show’s creators when it happened.

“When he said, ‘Killed them all of course,’ I mean, again we screamed,” editor Shelby Siegel said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Like it was, it was incredible. It felt like it was impossible that that’s what he was saying.”

Durst’s story continues when The Jinx: Part Two premieres on Sunday, April 21 from 10-11 p.m. ET and streams on Max. New episodes of the six-part series will air subsequent Sundays at the same time.
