CLEVELAND (WJW) — Just like the rest of us, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts enjoyed the total solar eclipse from a Northeast Ohio vantage point.
The veteran journalist first rolled into town last weekend for the women’s NCAA Tournament championship game between Caitlin Clark’s Iowa and undefeated South Carolina team (the eventual winners).

She was seen taking in the big game, which broke TV viewership records, calling Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse “electric” on social media.
“My facial expression in this photo reminds me of my dear momma,” the former college basketball athlete wrote on her Instagram. “I was looking out on the court at all those dynamic young women and felt such immense pride … proud and grateful for how they’ve grown the game.”
Then Monday, the journalist stuck around in Cleveland to watch the moon obscure the sun with anchor Whit Johnson, whose mother follows total eclipses around. They were posted up right in front of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
“I couldn’t imagine someone better than Whit Johnson to experience my first eclipse with,” she said. “It wasn’t his first time and hopefully won’t be my last. I may have to join his mom as an eclipse chaser!”
Eclipse wows Northeast Ohioans, visitors alike
In a video of the pair taking in the awesome sight, Roberts admitted she was going to the airport, but Johnson convinced her to stay in Cleveland for the event.
“It’s hard to express the emotions you feel when you see something like this,” she said. “The whole totality of people who go to see it and know we’re all together like this. Something I will never forget.”
