Max

As a queer agnostic, there’s not much that could convince me that God is real. Clouds could spell my name in the sky and I’d still call it a coincidence. But if I got to make out with Mad Men star Christina Hendricks like Hannah Einbinder did while filming Hacks season 3, I might join her in declaring that, yes, there is definitely a man upstairs and he's looking out for us mortals.

When Entertainment Tonight asked Einbinder about her reaction to learning about the steamy scene in the forthcoming season of the Max comedy, she deadpanned, “God is real,” to uproarious laughter from host Denny Directo and her Hacks co-star Jean Smart. “Next question.”

Directo started to ask the bisexual comedian if there was anyone else she was hoping to get a make-out scene with in the future, and honestly, I wanted Einbinder to get a chance to cook because I know she harbors some celebrity crushes, but she ultimately kept it professional, saying that she’d love for Elton John to guest star on the show in the future.

The trailer for Hacks season 3, which premieres May 2, offers a tantalizingly brief glimpse at the makeout scene that lasts all of three seconds, but honestly, that’s all I need to add it to my viewing calendar. The third season finds Einbinder’s comedy writer character Ava Daniels reuniting with her Vegas comedian boss Deborah Vance (Smart) as the pair navigate renewed success in the wake of a recent cancellation. But I honestly don’t care about the show’s central arc anymore; instead, I need to understand exactly how and why Christina Hendricks’ guest character ends up in a hotel room with Ava, and what they get up to afterward. In detail, please.

In a recent interview with E\! News, the bicon recommended that women “move on” and invest in themselves.

Einbinder, who is currently filming her debut stand-up special for Max, is no stranger to joking — or is she? — about her Hollywood crushes. While presenting the Emmy award for Best Actress in a Limited Series with her Hacks co-star in 2022, she famously pretended to be too shy to be on stage, whispering that she only agreed to do it “because from the stage she gets a better view of Zendaya,” as Smart hilariously relayed to the audience.

“God is real” is certainly less coy of a reaction but it’s just as valid — and in this particular instance, I can only say “amen.”
