Stephen Huszar dishes on his canine co-stars in his new movie

Everything Puppies puts Huszar opposite Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes. Pascal plays the part of Scarlett, a woman working hard on her line of dog treats and toys. Huszar plays Alex, manager of a pet supply store. What starts out as a professional relationship, as Alex and his customers are wildly impressed by Scarlett's product, grows into something more.

Stephen is a dog lover himself, and reveled in his furry co-stars bringing the story to life alongside him. "There were a lot of puppies on set at all times," he shared with Woman's World. "I actually have furries at home myself. So, it was really quite a treat to have some more that I'm actually working with as well."

Stephen Huszar talks his favorite Hallmark roles + finding love on and off the screen

Huszar got his start on Hallmark in 2011 with a role in Time After Time and the now 40-year-old actor has been leaving his mark ever since. However, a few of his films stand out as his favorites.

"I love, love, love being outdoors as much as possible," Huszar says, citing Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance as being one of his top picks due to the fact that they were essentially skiing on a mountain for a month.

Another one of his Hallmark favorites earned its spot for a far more personal reason. "I did one last year called The Royal Christmas Crush where I met my crush, which was obviously a huge surprise, but also a big bonus too," he says referring to his partner Katie Cassidy, who he met and fell for while filming the 2023 "Christmas in July" Hallmark flick.

"I think we went for lunch or something, and I noticed his crystals. I love crystals. And we started bonding over spirituality and I started to get to know the real Stephen," Katie Cassidy dished in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"I don't know, it just happened. But I think we had the same moment when we both realized we actually had chemistry," she said.

The couple went on to share that it was during the same scene in which something shifted in the both of them — and from that point on, their feelings were undeniable.

The actor's unique journey to the screen

For Stephen Huszar, acting wasn't something he had been chasing from childhood. Instead, he credits his leap to the big screen to something he refers to as his "quarter-life-crisis."

"I started acting, I wasn't a child actor or anything. I started acting when I was...I tell people I had my quarter-life-crisis when I was 25 years old," he explains.

"I was a business guy working for a big consulting firm and I decided to switch my career, and it was quite a hectic switch. People thought I was losing my mind. In some ways maybe I was."

Today, we're lucky he made the jump. After all, what would Hallmark be without him?

Huszar stays hungry for adventure

While filming a Hallmark rom-com might not seem full of risk and adventure, Huszar and his fellow actors know that it isn't always glitz and glamour. From being bundled up from head to toe in winter coats and scarves to acting a Christmas movie in the 100-degree heat to filming a heavy conversation on the top of a mountain in minus-30 degree weather to the point where you can't move your mouth, as Huszar recalled.

However, for the actor, the adventure doesn't stop where his craft takes him.

"I'm always in new countries and exploring new cultures," Huszar shares. "I just love, love, love, love experiencing new cultures and trying to get into what it's like to live in other people's shoes"

An avid lover of the outdoors, you can also find the actor hiking or sailing.

Stephen Huszar is grateful for his life on the screen

The Canadian actor we know and love for his romantic roles certainly can't be put in a box in terms of genre.

"I do enjoy romantic comedies a lot," he says. Simultaneously, heavier roles entice him just as much. "I do enjoy the challenge of sort of going to the darker side of things," playing complex characters that "perhaps the audience doesn't see coming."

However, at the end of the day, Stephen Huszar says, "I'm just really grateful to act, period. So, as long as I'm connected to my character and I feel like I can do justice to that character, I'm just really grateful to be in that role."
