Grupo Control to perform in ‘¡mira! Las Cruces’ this weekend

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The second annual “¡mira! Las Cruces” fest is ready to kick off its family event this weekend.

Visit Las Cruces will hold the event from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 on Main Street and Plaza de Las Cruces.

The festival will have the norteño and cumbia group, Grupo Control, headline and perform from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to Visit Las Cruces.

Other groups to perform are New Mexico State University’s cover band Proud Pete, local high school cheer group Silence Disruptors, Danza Azteca Cuitlahuac, and Mariachi Jaliciense.

According to Visit Las Cruces, the event will be debuting a radio-controlled hot air balloon exhibit. The 20-foot-tall balloons will take flight at 5 p.m.

The festival is free and will have activities for the whole family to enjoy, including an expanded Farmers and Crafts Market. There will also be a food truck fiesta with a live DJ.

“The turnout for last year’s event was amazing and surpassed all expectations. This year with the expanded activities and the very popular headlining act Grupo Control we expect an even better visitor experience and community response,” said Visit Las Cruces Executive Director Rochelle Miller-Hernandez.

The City of Las Cruces will be shutting down Main Street at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26 in preparation for the event.

The city is warning attendees that seating is limited and is allowing guests to bring their chairs.
