Golden Bachelor's Theresa Nist Sets the Record Straight Following Her Quick Divorce From Gerry Turner

While most couples from Bachelor Nation don’t go the distance, fans couldn’t help but be a little upset when Golden Bachelor‘s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce just three months after their live televised wedding.

The news set the rumor mill spinning quicker than whispers in the mansion, igniting chatter about their prenup and Nist’s career influencing their split. Not one to just watch the petals fall, Nist stepped back into the limelight — this time without a rose, but with a heartfelt message to clear the air.

“Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s okay,” Nist shared in an Instagram caption, just three days following their divorce announcement. With a nod to optimism, the post featured the uplifting quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

“It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, something I never expected to happen at this point in my life and I truly thought it was going to last forever. It turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything,” she continued.

In a gesture as genuine as a first impression rose, Nist expressed her gratitude towards her supporters. “To everyone who has expressed love, support, and kindness to me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she continued. “You are all such wonderful human beings. It means the world to me that you took the time to reach out to me, whether in person, on the phone, by text, or by direct message. You are all so kind to do so.”

Nist also extended an olive branch to those struggling to understand her and Turner’s decision. “For everyone else who is confused and angry and who does not understand, please try to find it in your heart to understand and to try a little kindness,” she urged. “Not just for me but for the world and for everyone you encounter.” That feels like a golden piece of advice.
