Golden Bachelor news: Gerry and Theresa break up, but still love each other

For weeks America tuned in to watch a love story for the ages.

The 'Golden Bachelor' Gerry Turner and Jersey Gal Teresa Nist made a love connection and tied the knot on January 4, 2024.

The Golden Couple sat down with Good Morning America for an emotional and shocking interview announcing their divorce on Friday.

The plan was to make the marriage work but finding their Golden home in South Carolina or New Jersey was never established.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to — dissolve our marriage,” Gerry Turner told Juju Chang of the Good Morning America.

The first season of the Golden Bachelor aired in the fall of 2023. Theresa met Gerry at the Bachelor Mansion on Sept. 28 with 21 other contestants.

The couple were both previously married to their high school sweethearts for over 40 years but became widows in 2017.

“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch “The Golden Bachelor," and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them hope,” Theresa Nist said on the Good Morning America interview.

Both Gerry and Theresa are still very much in love and say they never did not fall out of love and offered message to others — stay in it, stay hopeful.

The couple shared that they have a prenuptial agreement and that they will be giving back their rings.

“But not the memories” Turner added.
