Gerry Turner’s Daughter Breaks Her Silence on the ‘Cruelty’ Around The Golden Bachelor's Divorce From Theresa Nist

After a whirlwind 3-month-long marriage, Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have called it quits. And after nearly two weeks of commentary from a furious peanut gallery, Turner’s daughter Angie is speaking out.

It’s no surprise, she said on Instagram, that the divorce announcement “sparked a range of emotions.” And though she said she “loves” how invested people were in the show — “What an experience to have you along for the ride!” — she has a problem with how things are currently unfolding.

“What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with,” Angie said.

Because people in [Golden] Bachelor Nation are pissed about how quickly the couple split and plenty of people are in the same boat as Nick Viall (AKA the bachelor on season 21 of … The Bachelor) — thinking there’s “more to the story.” After all, why did the couple pull the marriage trigger so quickly, only to do the same with the divorce filing?

“It doesn’t require lawyers to get out of an engagement,” he previously told People. “It does require lawyers to get out of a marriage, and I’m really curious what changed with Gerry and Theresa that made them so sure to sign up for a marriage license, but now only to get a divorce.”

“Maybe Gerry’s not as golden as we hoped he would be,” Viall speculated. “I don’t think it’s because they couldn’t find an apartment together. They clearly could have, they simply chose not to. Give it a couple of months, and then this truth will come out.”

It’s likely speculation like that that has Angie riled up, sticking up for her dad and her former step-mom.

“My Dad and Theresa are kind, good people that made this decision for them, no one else,” she continued. “I kindly urge everyone to remember that behind every story, there are real people with real feelings.”

People in the comments apologized for the “drama” and “bullying” Gerry and Theresa have had to deal with, while others said it comes with the territory.

“I think people are just heartbroken and so shocked. That doesn’t give anyone the right to be unkind though,” one person said.

“I am sorry for the backlash but this is what comes when you decide to be on reality television you have to take the good with the bad!” another quipped.

And yes, even after her moving message, more backlash is probably what’s in store for Angie and her family in the near future. Fans were invested, and (right or wrong) they now feel tricked and entitled to answers.
