George Thorogood & the Delaware Destroyers will treat hometown fans to a sold-out summer show Saturday, June 22, at Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville.

But you can see this classic rocker sooner, too.

Before he plays Freeman Arts, the lead Delaware Destroyer will join John Fogerty for a U.S. tour that kicks off Sunday, June 2, in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

That tour, in which Fogerty will perform Creedence Clearwater Revival songs for the first time in years, will not come to the First State, but First State fans can catch the tour, with the Delaware Destroyers as the opening act, in either Camden or Holmdel, New Jersey. The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion show in Camden is Friday, June 7, while the PNC Bank Arts Center show in Holmdel is Saturday, June 15.

George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers were very popular in the 1980s, with hits including "I Drink Alone'' and "Bad to the Bone,'' as well as now-classic cover versions of songs like "Move It on Over,'' and "Who Do You Love?"

Last April, Delaware native Thorogood, 74, halted his 50th anniversary tour, announcing on his website that he was "diagnosed with a very serious medical condition, that will require immediate surgery and quite a few weeks'' of recuperation.

But Thorogood, who over half a century has sold more than 15 million records and performed more than 8,000 live shows, is still bad to the bone and plans to stay busy, with an active schedule throughout the spring and summer.
