Free classical music with coffee on April 21 in Oak Ridge

Zofia Glashauser, violinist, accompanied by Emi Kagawa on piano will perform an Oak Ridge Civic Music Association  coffee concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge.

The duo will perform music by Wieniawski, McKay, Vaughn Williams, Fauré, and Drigo-Heifitz. The concert is free and refreshments will be served after the performance.

Born in Kraków, Poland, Glashauser is a violinist with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Previously she was a concertmaster of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, assistant concertmaster of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and was a member Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Gustav Mahler Orchestra in Austria, among others. She is also an active chamber musician and regularly plays with the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s Music and Wellness String Quartet.

Emi Kagawa, an acclaimed soloist and collaborative artist, is celebrated for her delicate and captivating performances worldwide. Praised by the New York Sun as "an artist both interesting and bold," Kagawa's music is described as a 1,000-piece puzzle, with each piece a masterpiece, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Kagawa has won accolades in prestigious competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Nancy Clark International Piano Competition.

Currently serving as the principal keyboard of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Kagawa has collaborated on innovative concerts with MANI Brooklyn Chamber Music.

Kagawa has previously served on faculties such as New York University, Lee University, Saint Joseph’s University, Bryan College, and New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program.

The church is at 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike.
