'Fox & Friends' co-host Brian Kilmeade defends border detention camps: 'We're not throwing them in cages'

Brian Kilmeade, co-host of Fox & Friends, lashed out at congress members who criticized conditions at border detention facilities.

Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed the use of cages to house children at the centers at a recent press conference. “Right now, the president is committing human rights abuses at the border, keeping children in cages, and having human beings drinking out of toilets,” said Omar.

Ocasio-Cortez added, “He can’t look all Americans in the face and justify why this country is throwing them in cages.” Kilmeade disagreed, and defended the facilities. “We’re not throwing them in cages. Why does she keep saying that?” he asked.

Kilmeade placed blame for the practice on former president Barack Obama, noting, “We know the original setup was president Obama’s in 2011. Does she think we don’t understand that?”

Viewers on Twitter were split, with many taking issue with Kilmeade’s apparent defense of the detention facilities, and took President Trump to task for not doing more to improve conditions:
