Annie Potts and Octavia Spencer in 'Young Sheldon' Season 7

Sixteen years after her first appearance, Octavia Spencer is returning to The Big Bang Theory universe.

The Oscar winner will guest-star in the May 2 episode of Young Sheldon, and Parade has your exclusive first look.

Spencer, who is best known for her acclaimed performances in films like The Help and Hidden Figures, will appear in Season 7, Episode 10 of Young Sheldon, "Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage," as Rhonda Thomason, a strict, no-nonsense probation officer who puts Meemaw (Annie Potts) in her place when she tries to skip out on doing community service. House arrest has been a humbling experience for Meemaw.

Spencer is a veteran of Young Sheldon producer Chuck Lorre’s shows. This is the fourth one she’s appeared in, following a 2001 appearance on Dharma & Greg, a 2008 appearance on The Big Bang Theory and a recurring stint on Mom’s first three seasons. She appeared in a Season 2 episode of The Big Bang Theory as a DMV employee who gets exasperated by Sheldon (Jim Parsons). She later acted with Parsons again in Hidden Figures and A Kid Like Jake. (Parsons is set to appear as adult Sheldon in the Young Sheldon series finale.)

With her Young Sheldon guest spot, Spencer becomes the sixth actor to appear on both The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon as different characters, following Lance Barber, Michael Trucco, Teller (of magician duo Penn & Teller), Melissa Tang, and Vernee Watson. But she’s the only one to have won an Oscar between appearances.

"Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage" will premiere on May 2. It will be followed by two new episodes on May 9 and the two-part series finale on May 16.

In tonight's episode, “A Fancy Article and a Scholarship for a Baby,” Sheldon (Iain Armitage) publishes a scholarly paper that gets him a lot of recruiting attention from grad schools, while Georgie (Montana Jordan) makes an effort to speak properly to set a good example for baby Cece. But it doesn’t come easily for him.

Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. It’s available to stream on Paramount+.
