What is it? you ask. Is it Michael Fassbender’s head in a bag? Or a headstone bearing Elizabeth Shaw’s name and an explanation for why she won’t be appearing in the sequel? Nope, it’s a patch carrying the name of the omnipresent and ominous Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The company has apparently undergone the merger we knew was on the horizon during Prometheus, moving the events of this franchise closer to the Alien timeline.

Also telling are the winged figures facing each other, no doubt familiar to anyone with a passing knowledge of biblical iconography… or Raiders of the Lost Ark. These angels are traditionally incorporated on the Ark of the Covenant, the chest that contained the stone tablets on which the Hebrew God inscribed the Ten Commandments.

Meanwhile, the film’s Twitter also teased potentially new-look Xenomorphs.

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, and Danny McBride. We can’t stress enough that Danny McBride is in this movie.
