Firefighters in North Carolina are going viral for lending a helping hand — and hose — to a family in need.

When members of Firehouse 18 in Charlotte spotted a mother trying to fill up a kiddie pool with water using pots and pans, they decided to step in.

After responding to a call, Engine 18 got its hoses out and filled up the pool. After the task was done, the guests at the little boy’s birthday all happily got in.

Images shared by the Charlotte Fire Station 18 Facebook page capturing the happy moment are gathering hundreds of likes and comments. “What was just a simple task for us turned into laughter, smiles, and a lifelong memory for the neighborhood kids as well as the men on Engine 18,” the photo caption reads.

The heartwarming gesture has received tons of praise on social media.

According to WCNC-TV, this isn’t the first time Engine 18 has gone above and beyond for the community. “18 has a great relationship with the community through many years on being there when needed in best of times and worst of times,” the fire station told WCNC-TV.
