Renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier has died at the age of 78.

The announcement was made on the creative's Instagram account. "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Demarchelier on March 31, 2022, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Mia, his three sons Gustaf, Arthur, Victor and three grandchildren," the caption reads.

Demarchelier was known for a wide range of his work, including those with fashion publications such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. He began shooting for American Vogue in 1975, with his shoot with Madonna being one of the most notable. Demarchelier was also famous for being the personal photographer of Princess Diana, becoming the first non-Brit official royal photographer. Other subjects of his include Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman and Gisele Bündchen. As for brands, the photographer has shot campaigns for Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, CELINE, Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, just to name a few.

Despite his success, Demarchelier was one of 25 industry professionals accused in a 2018 #MeToo exposé of sexually harassing models. He denied the allegations, stating: "People lie and they tell stories. It’s ridiculous."

Our deepest condolences are with everyone affected by the death.
