A cat in Australia spent one of their nine lives narrowly avoiding a serious snake attack.

According to an April 6 Facebook post from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, a family in Buderim recently went out to their courtyard and discovered a "large Carpet Python" attempting to grab their pet cat, who was lounging outside.

The snake-catching service shared a video of the shocking incident in its Facebook post about the job. The clip starts with Stu of Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers sharing a warning about the video.

"What you're about to watch is one of the most insane videos you'll ever see and will send shivers down your spine," Stu says before the video cuts to security footage from the home where the cat was attacked.

In the footage (Watch the video here), the brown tabby cat sits peacefully outside, unaware that a snake is slithering up behind them. One of the cat's owners spots the reptile and moves towards the feline and snake. Before the pet parent can reach the feline, the snake appears to attach to the cat, sending the pet racing into the house with the python attached to its leg.

The owner follows the cat and snake inside, where screams can be heard. Footage from later during the incident shows the python back outside without the cat.

Stu provided more context for the events in Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers' Facebook post, sharing: "The mum and the daughter walked outside and noticed that there was a snake hanging off the back of their cat."

"Thankfully, they were able to get the snake off the cat," Stu says about what happened after the events in the video, adding that he finds the clip "spine-tingling crazy."

Per Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, the cat and the snake are okay after the frightening encounter. The service picked up the snake from the Buderim home and released the python in an area away from people.

In the clip, the snake catcher, identified by Storyful as Tony Morrison, approaches a wheeled toy and says, "I'll tell you what, if the kids went to ride this, they would get a little bit of a surprise." Then, the camera zooms in to show that a snake is coiled up underneath the toy before Morrison lifts the toy to reveal the entire snake.

"He's found a great place to hide right underneath this toy," Morrison says of the snake, which he calls a "beautiful ball." The snake, also a python, was safely removed from the home and relocated, according to 9News.
