New exhibit highlights Oak Lawn Jazz Festival, REO Speedwagon and Styx

OAK LAWN, Ill. — A new exhibit opening Saturday at the Oak Lawn Public Library highlights the Oak Lawn Jazz Festival days, REO Speedwagon and Styx.

From 1960 through 1985, Oak Lawn hosted one of the biggest high school jazz competitions in the country at Oak Lawn Community High School.

What are Chicago’s most Instagram-able landmarks and locations?

The exhibit will feature photos and memorabilia of the festival.

It will also feature concert photos by AJ Roccaforte of REO Speedwagon and Styx.

Both bands have deep roots in Oak Lawn.

The exhibit opens Saturday from 6-8 p.m. in the second-floor local history room.

It will run through the end of the year.
