Following Dune: Part One in 2021, Part Two was originally set to come out this fall, but now, amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the premiere date has shifted to March 2024.

Per the Hollywood Reporter: "In a major change to the November box office calendar, Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two has been pushed to next year amid the ongoing actors strike, which prevents stars from promoting their projects.

Legendary and Warner Bros.’ big-budget sequel was slated to open Nov. 3 in North America timed to its global rollout, but will instead debut domestically on March 15, 2024."

Previously, Variety reported that Warner Bros. was "strongly considering pushing the Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya tentpole to next year from its current Nov. 3 slot, [according to] three individuals with knowledge of discussions."

Here, everything we know about the second part of the epic sci-fi saga:

Dune: Part Two is also adapted from Frank Herbet's novel.

The two films cover just the plot of Herbert's first Dune book. Part One ended as Paul (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother (Rebecca Ferguson) joined the Fremen. In Part Two, Chalamet says, "We really see Paul Atreides become a leader, a redeemer of the Fremen people in a sense."

The official synopsis for Part Two is as follows: "This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee."

It is not a sequel. "It’s important—it’s not a sequel, it’s a second part. There’s a difference," director Denis Villeneuve said. "I wanted the movie to really open just where we left the characters. There’s no time jump. I wanted dramatic continuity with part one."

Timothée Chalamet will return.

Chalamet leads the cast of Dune as Paul Atreides, and also returning for the second installment will be Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.

Joining for Part Two are Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, emperor of House Corrino; Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, the Emperor's daughter; Austin Butler as Fey-Rautha Harkonnen, Baron Harkonnen's nephew and heir; and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, a member of the Bene Gesserit.

Of casting Pugh, Villenueve told Vanity Fair, "Her stake could not be higher because she’s afraid that her father could lose the throne, could lose everything. When I met Florence, I was struck by her assurance, how grounded she is as a young woman, how direct, how unapologetic. She has something inherently royal about her. I will definitely believe that Florence could become, in the future, a prime minister."

The film is set to premiere in 2024.
