A popular fast-casual Chinese restaurant chain plans to bring its Jacksonville locations to a dozen with a return to the Regency area.

Panda Express is expected to open later this year at 9370 Atlantic Blvd. between Chick-fil-A and Chili's Grill & Bar in the former Pollo Tropical building near Regency Square Mall, the Ferber Company announced Tuesday in a news release.

The 3,800 square-foot Regency Park location will mark the return of Panda Express to the area, according to Ferber, which is a privately held real estate development and investment company headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach.

“This is the best stretch of road within the Regency trade area and one of the reasons we were attracted to this site,” said Tom Mundy, executive vice president for retail development services at Ferber.

Panda Express once had been at Regency Square Mall but then relocated in 2019 to Atlantic North shopping center at Atlantic and Kernan boulevards.

Panda Express currently has 11 other Jacksonville locations: 6752 Normandy Blvd., 11929 Atlantic Blvd. in Atlantic North shopping center, 4897 Town Center Parkway in the Markets at Town Center, 9971 Baymeadows Road, 14022 Revell Drive in River City Marketplace, 13460 Beach Blvd. in Hodges Point Plaza, 12697 Bartram Park Blvd., 9580 Applecross Road #102 in Oakleaf Town Center, 1 UNF Drive at the University of North Florida Student Union, inside the Navy Exchange at Naval Air Station Jacksonville and at Naval Air Station Mayport.
