Chick-fil-A proposes second drive-thru-only restaurant in Northeast Florida

Some 20 years after opening its sole Nassau County restaurant, Chick-fil-A is proposing a second restaurant — this one less than a mile from the first.
According to plans filed with the St. Johns Water Management District, the popular fast-food chicken chain is planning a drive-thru-only restaurant at 463915 SR 200 in Yulee at the Publix- and Kohl’s-anchored Villages of Amelia, home to Joann, TJMaxx, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta, HomeGoods and more. Other restaurants at the retail center include Panera, Dunkin, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Sonic Drive-in.
Located at a 1.58-acre outparcel at the center, the proposed restaurant would be similar to one first proposed in June 2022 at Atlantic North development in Jacksonville’s East Arlington. There, plans approved in late November show a 2,705-square-foot facility with a dual drive-thru with a maximum capacity of 42 cars.
Plans for the Yulee site show a much larger 5,201-square-foot restaurant with a dual drive-thru with ordering and pickup canopies. A small patio dining area is shown on the plans, likely for walk-up ordering.
More Chick-fil-A changes: Jacksonville's newest Chick-fil-A will be smaller. But its drive-thru will be super-sized.
The restaurant would be just over a half-mile from the chain's restaurant at 464004 SR 200 that opened in 2004.
