Eva Evans’ sister announced her death in April 2024 at 29 years old

Eva Evans, known for her TikToks and for creating the Amazon Prime show Club Rat, died at 29 years old in April 2024.

The TikTok creator’s sister, Lila, shared the news on Instagram with a picture of Evans smiling while dancing in a bright floral dress. She did not share Evans' cause of death.

“Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died,” she wrote in the caption. “After 24 hours, i still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so i know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.”

Evans had over 300,000 followers on TikTok where she posted a range of content from how she dealt with breakups to reviews of her TikTok purchases. She also was the creator and director of the comedy series Club Rat.

So who was Eva Evans? Here’s everything to know about the late TikTok creator.

She was born and raised in New York City

Evans grew up in New York City in the East Village, according to her sister Lila’s interview with Medium. Evans, as well as her three sisters, were homeschooled and were raised in a more "bohemian" and "eccentric" home.

“Our homeschooling group was comprised of fundamentalist Christians, actors and parents who rejected the status quo, several of whom adopted experiential learning techniques for their children after receiving an Ivy League education of their own,” Lila told the outlet.

She went to Brooklyn College

Evans received her bachelor’s degree in screenwriting from Brooklyn College, according to her LinkedIn. She interned at multiple film studios throughout her time in college and, after graduating, became an assistant director and producer at Anchor Light.

She posted comedic content about her personal life on TikTok

Evans became a public figure when she started posting stories from her personal life and other comedy on TikTok, talking about her breakups and lived experiences. She also regularly posted reviews of TikTok shop items.

In one March 2024 video, Evans gave a run-through of what she was wearing to go see her boyfriend and find out whether he was cheating on her.

“I’m wearing my hoops obviously, you’ve gotta have great hoops,” she said through tears. “I’m wearing my big fur coat because it’s armor.”

She created her own show, 'Club Rat'

In addition to her TikTok, Evans also created her own show, Club Rat, which first debuted as a TikTok series in 2023 before it was made available for purchase on Amazon Prime. The series follows a girl, played by Evans, who hasn’t moved on from her relationship so her friends give her an ultimatum: either make an effort to get past it or lose her friends.

Evans promoted it on her TikTok and even joked that she was struggling to get it picked up by streaming platforms.

“Me thinking about how I spent a year of my life and all my savings to create a comedy series about women by women, only to find out people don’t spend money on independently produced media, they just watch what’s included with their streaming service,” she wrote in one February 2024 video, with an audio saying “All that work and what did it get me?” in the background.

She was honest about her struggles with mental health

Evans wasn’t shy about portraying the struggles she experienced in her life. In one of her TikTok videos, she wrote about how she started therapy when she was 16 years old.

“When I was 16 I was forcibly taken to a wilderness therapy program and spent almost a year in treatment centers,” she wrote in the caption. “Today, Im a filmmaker and I developed a tv show based on my experience :).”

In another video, she joked that her childhood trauma is what led to her sense of humor now.

On April 21, 2024, Lila announced that Evans had died — only three days after she made her last TikTok which was about her “rooting for” JoJo Siwa.

“I wish i had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what i don’t,” Lila wrote in the caption of her post.

She continued, “I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be be [sic] without her.”

Julia Fox reposted Lila’s Instagram announcement on her Instagram Stories, sharing her condolences with the family.

“I can’t believe this. RIP @ITSEVAEVANS I’m going to miss you so much. Thank you for sharing so much of your light with us,” she wrote.
