Estée Lauder Taps Designer Feng Chen Wang for a Limited-Edition Makeup Collection
Estée Lauder has joined forces with Chinese fashion designer, Feng Chen Wang, for an all-new, limited-edition collection of makeup.
Celebrating the undeniable achievements of Chinese women who are breaking boundaries, the collection features some of the cosmetic brand's best-selling products, including the Pure Color Lipstick and Double Wear Soft Glow Matte Cushion, alongside debuting an all-new Pure Color Sculpt & Glow Multi-Tasking Palette, co-created with Feng Chen Wang.
Harnessing some of the designer's signature aesthetic inspirations, including bamboo, mountains and the phoenix, the collection seeks to bring Wang's ideas to life, drawing on traditional Chinese style for a new audience. For the designer, the phoenix symbolizes the Chinese woman on a journey of rediscovery, while bamboo represents perseverance and effort. Finally, mountains act as a metaphor for life's journey and the challenges we face.
The collection features the brand's best-selling lipstick, arriving in three distinct shades chosen specifically to flatter Asian skin tones. The shades include "Thrill Me," a matte, crimson red, alongside "Stolen Heart," a rosy mauve and finally, "Next Romance," a matte terracotta shade. The new palette features six new matte and shimmery shades, which the wearer can use as blush, contouring powder, highlighter or eyeshadow.
According to Wang, the purple "not only conveys the youthful spirit of China today, but it is also highly meaningful in traditional Chinese culture as it represents royalty, pride as well as auspicious signs."
