Eric Church's Nashville Bar Cheekily References Morgan Wallen Chair Throwing Incident

Eric Church’s bar in Nashville, Tenn., is cheekily referencing a recent incident that occurred at the venue involving country music star Morgan Wallen in an updated marquee that is now visible on the front of the six-story restaurant and event space.

Wallen, 30, was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly threw a chair off the rooftop while at Chief’s during the bar’s opening weekend. The “Last Night” singer was charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

The bar revealed its updated marquee message in an Instagram post on Tues., April 9.

“Our pigs fly,” the message began before adding, “our chairs don’t.” The marquee then added promotional messaging for chef and barbecue pitmaster Rodney Scott’s new rooftop restaurant located at Chief’s.

Fans immediately took to the comments to call out the "marketing gold," with another writing, "The best BBQ and marketing 😂" as someone else noted, "Own the marketing I guess."

Wallen, who is planning to open his own restaurant and bar in Nashville this summer, allegedly threw the chair off the Chief’s rooftop at about 10:45 p.m. on Sun., April 7. Witnesses who were near Wallen at the time of the incident said the “Whiskey Glasses” singer laughed after the chair went over the ledge, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by local news station WSMV-TV.

After the chair was thrown off the rooftop, it fell six stories before landing “close” to two police officers who were standing on Broadway at the time, according to the MNPD. Officers estimated that the chair landed about three feet away from where the officers had been standing, the affidavit said.

Wallen was arrested early in the morning on Mon., April 8, and posted $15,250 in bond a few hours later to secure his release, police said. Worrick Robinson, an attorney representing Wallen, told WSMV-TV that his client is “cooperating fully with authorities.”

The country star is expected to appear in court on Fri., May 3. Later that day, Wallen is scheduled to perform his second of three shows at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium as part of his ongoing One Night at a Time tour.

People reported that since the incident, patrons have been flocking to the bar and asking to see the chair that the "Last Night" crooner threw.
