Having trouble predicting who will win Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress at the 2024 Emmy Awards? Let’s consult Gold Derby’s Emmy Experts! These savvy pundits from major media outlets have chimed in with their first set of predictions, and they say the trophy will go to Jennifer Jason Leigh (“Fargo”). The other potential nominees at this early stage are Aja Naomi King (“Lessons in Chemistry”), Sandra Oh (“The Sympathizer”), Diane Lane (“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans”), Kali Reis (“True Detective: Night Country”) and Andrea Riseborough (“The Regime”) — but that could all change in the coming months.

As of this writing, four out of our six Emmy Experts predict a victory for Leigh: Christopher Rosen (Gold Derby), Peter Travers (ABC), Ray Richmond (Gold Derby) and Thelma Adams (Gold Derby). She plays billionaire CEO Lorraine Lyon in “Fargo” Season 5, who’s the mother-in-law of Juno Temple‘s Dorothy “Dot” Lyon. This would mark Leigh’s first career Emmy nomination, though she also has an Oscar bid to her name for “The Hateful Eight” (2015).

One other Emmyologist, Shawn Edwards (WDAF-TV Fox), instead believes King will prevail. Already this awards season, the former “How to Get Away with Murder” actress has garnered bids at the Critics Choice Awards and Image Awards for her “Lessons in Chemistry” role as Harriet Sloane, the next door neighbor and best friend of Brie Larson‘s Elizabeth Zott.

Finally, Joyce Eng (Gold Derby) goes out on a limb for Oh for her role as Sofia Mori in the HBO adaptation of the 2015 award-winning novel “The Sympathizer” by Viet Thanh Nguyen. Oh is a 13-time Emmy nominee (five for “Grey’s Anatomy,” six for “Killing Eve,” one for “Saturday Night Live,” one for the Golden Globes) who is still waiting on her first victory.

Some of the most recent Emmy winners in the Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress category include Niecy Nash-Betts (“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”), Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus”), Julianne Nicholson (“Mare of Easttown”), Uzo Aduba (“Mrs. America”) and Patricia Arquette (“The Act”). Find out who will be in the running to join this esteemed list when the Primetime Emmy nominations are announced on July 17, 2024.
