Emma Stone Insists She Wasn't Upset by Jimmy Kimmel's “Poor Things” Oscars Joke: 'I Didn't Call Him a Prick'

"I wasn't upset with him at all," Emma Stone said of internet speculation that she took offense to a joke Jimmy Kimmel made during March's Oscars ceremony

Emma Stone is refuting the idea that Jimmy Kimmel offended her during the 2024 Oscars.

During Stone's recent interview with her The Curse costar Nathan Fielder in The Hollywood Reporter, the Poor Things star — who won her second Academy Award back in March for the movie — disagreed with the notion that she did not respond kindly to a joke Kimmel, 56, made about her during the ceremony.

"Did he upset me?" she questioned, after THR asked whether internet rumors that she called the late night host "a prick" during the live broadcast held any weight. "No! I didn't call him a prick," Stone, 35, said. "What did I say? I didn't call him a prick. I wasn't upset with him at all. I'll have to look that up."

The moment in question happened after a montage for Poor Things played as one of the 10 films nominated for Best Picture at the March 10 awards ceremony. “Those were all the parts of Poor Things that we’re allowed to show on TV,” Kimmel said after the clip aired, seemingly referencing the significant amount of nudity featured throughout Poor Things.

Videos from the ceremony show that Stone said a few words to her husband Dave McCary immediately following Kimmel's joke, though it remains unclear what she may have said. Representatives for Stone did not respond to a request for comment when PEOPLE covered the moment in the hours after the ceremony.

While speaking with THR about the notable Oscars moment, Stone jokingly added that she considers herself "near-unoffendable."

In addition to Stone's win for Best Actress in March, Poor Things also won Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design at the recent Oscars ceremony.

When Stone won Best Actress in March, she noted during her acceptance speech that she learned during her awards season experience that "it's not about me."

"It's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It's all of us together," she said. "I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film."

Following Poor Things' awards season success, Stone and the film's director Yorgos Lanthimos are teaming up again for their third feature film together, Kinds of Kindness. That movie releases June 21.
