Ahead of her appearance at Stagecoach this weekend, Elle King is getting ready for a “Baby Daddy’s Weekend” — her chance to turn the radio up and “raise a cup” — as she sings on her new song. “It’s my baby daddy’s weekend,” she declares over a thick, honky-pop beat. “I ain’t leavin’/Is we drunk yet? (No!)/It ain’t even.”

“My new song is for the people who deserve a good summer,” King said in a statement. “It’s for people who need a break from their kids but miss them when they aren’t around. It’s for the people working two jobs, the people who never get to put themselves first! It’s a song for all the people who make this world go ’round. Life isn’t always fun and games, but when it is, it’s my Baby Daddy’s Weekend.”

The song is King’s first single as a lead artist since the release of her album, Come Get Your Wife, last year. It also arrives a few months after King’s controversial appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in January, where she appeared too drunk to sing at an event called Opry Goes Dolly, honoring Dolly Parton. “Hi, my name is Elle King and I’m fucking hammered,” she told the crowd. The next day, the Opry issued an apology on social media saying, “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance,” referring to King’s remarks.

King commented on the fallout in an Instagram post. “To everyone sending me love because I’m human and already talked to Dolly, I love you,” she wrote, adding, “To everyone who told me to k*ll myself. I love you too.”
