Elkhart County Symphony performs March 24 at The Lerner Theatre

ELKHART — The Elkhart County Symphony performs at 4 p.m. March 24 at The Lerner Theatre, 410 S. Main St.

Titled “Symphonic Horizons,” the concert includes eight pieces that reveal a range of musical styles and geographic influences.

Flautist Aleksandra Kemble, principal flute for both the LaPorte and Elkhart county orchestras, is guest soloist for two selections: the third movement of Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 2 in D and Chaminade’s Flute Concertino, Opus 107.

The orchestra also plays side-by-side with the Elkhart High School Symphony Orchestra on two numbers:

Saint-Saëns’ Danse Bacchanale and Smetana’s “Furiant” from “The Bartered Bride.”

The rest of the program includes Glinka’s Overture to “Rusland and Ludmilla,” Choi’s Arirang Fantasy, Jennifer Higdon’s “blue cathedral” and Abreu’s “Tico, Tico,” as arranged by Colnot.

Music Director Soo Han and Kemble will hold a pre-concert discussion at 3 p.m.
