Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian may be all grown up, but he still follows his mom's rules.

The Serving Sara star, 58, chatted with PEOPLE for this week's issue about how her favorite thing to do with her 22-year-old son is "work."

The tight-knit pair spend a ton of time together, with Damian — who wrote and directed the new thriller Strictly Confidential, which stars his mother — confirming, "We don't have a conversation that isn't about work or filming or making a movie in some aspect."

Hurley admits that she has "a very annoying mummy rule" for when she's spending time with her son that still stands to this day.

"I've always had what you say is a very annoying mommy rule in the house. We're never allowed to put the TV on until 6 p.m.," she shares.

"That included lockdown! We've always stuck to that. So we try and work all day, but at 6, we'll go into the TV room."

Damian keeps his own apartment in London but moved back to his mother’s place in the countryside during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, “I never really left,” says Damian. “It went straight from COVID into making this film into the edit for this film to the press for this film. My little apartment sits there, sadly.”

Mother and son say they've "had some amazing times watching television together."

"We really started over lockdown, and I wanted to show Damian a lot of the films that had been part of my growing up. So '80s and '90s films and '70s too in some cases."

The star welcomed her only child in 2002 and shares him with ex Steve Bing.

In February, Damian spoke with PEOPLE about his new film Strictly Confidentialwhich stars his mom in a key role. The filmmaker shared that his mom had "promised" him that she'd star in his first film and had "dropped everything" to participate.

"During the making of my first-ever short film back in 2010 when I was 8, my mother promised me she’d be in my first feature. True to her word, the minute Strictly Confidential was green-lit, my mother dropped everything and raced out to the Caribbean to help," he explained at the time.

Although he admitted that the relationship between director and actor can be "complicated at the best of times," Damian said that it wasn't true of working with his mother.

"It was a joy to come to work and tackle each day together," he told PEOPLE at the time.
