Given the headlines of the past year, one might be forgiven for thinking that the popular HGTV television channel is based in Southeastern North Carolina.

Long running show "House Hunters" was out shooting scenery around downtown Wilmington in March.

"Battle on the Beach" shot episodes for its upcoming fourth season at Oak Island in Brunswick County earlier this year.

A spin-off of HGTV show "Good Bones" has been shooting in Wilmington both this year and last.

And while HGTV is based in Knoxville, not Wilmington — although HGTV and Food Network president emeritus Judy Girard, founder of GLOW Academy, does live in the Port City — this year is far from the first time the station has been seen around these parts.

Here's a look at eight other times HGTV has featured houses in the Wilmington area.

HGTV Smart Home 2022

This year's HGTV Smart Home 2022 is located in the River Bluffs community in Castle Hayne. The home is part of their annual contest that also includes a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 and $100,000 from LendingTree. The 3,000 square foot two-story cottage includes three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage. [MATT BORN/STARNEWS]

This annual contest, which began in 2008, featured a home in Castle Hayne's River Bluffs community in 2022. The home was featured in a one-hour special April 22, 2022.

Leah Nadorff, a teacher from Columbia, South Carolina, won the home and a $1.2 million prize package that included a Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV and $100,000 in cash.

'House Hunters' times infinity

Aside from its most recent excursion into Wilmington, "House Hunters" has shot many shows in the area.

On season 55, episode 9, titled "Finding a Forever Home in Wilmington," which aired in December of 2011, an anesthesiologist named Joey looked for a house in the Leland area. The only catch was it had to be within 30 minutes of what is now Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for his job.

On season 77, episode 6, a triathlete struggled to find a historic home to buy in Wilmington that met all of his criteria after selling his starter home, which was also in Wilmington.

Season 92, episode 7 of "House Hunters" also shot in Wilmington, with a couple looking to settle down to a house with a pool.

'Beachfront Bargain Hunt'

The 20th season of this HGTV show aired episodes shot in both Carolina Beach and Surf City in 2018.

Episode 3, "Can't Get Enough of Carolina Beach, NC," followed a Raleigh family as it looked to relocate to the beach.

Episode 8, "Space for Guests in Surf City," followed a Florida family as they looked for a vacation home with a secluded vibe. Featured in the episode was Topsail Beach's legendary Patio Playground miniature golf course, which has been featured on "Beachfront Bargain Hunt" three separate times.

Episode 10 followed a couple looking for "the perfect beach getaway" in Carolina Beach.

'My Lottery Dream Home'

In the 14th season of this series, a couple looks to invest an inheritance into a home at Carolina Beach.

In the couple's search for a "quirky" place, it goes into Carolina and Kure beach neighborhoods. The host and the couple meet at Stoked Restaurant in Carolina Beach for the final decision.
