Ed O’Neill Steps Out in Los Angeles with Rarely Seen Daughter Claire

It’s a family affair for Ed O’Neill!

The former Modern Family star, 77, hit the blue carpet with his youngest daughter Claire, who is rarely seen at public events, as he attended the official launch of Hulu on Disney+ in Los Angeles on Friday, April 5.

The father-and-daughter duo posed together for photographs at the event, which saw Claire elegantly dressed in a black strapless gown with a matching shawl and a pair of strappy heels. Ed meanwhile, opted for a casual-smart look of a blue check shirt, blue blazer and black pants.

The actor shares his two daughters Sophia and Claire with his wife, actress Catherine Rusoff. The pair have been married since 1986.

Claire rarely joins her father at public events, with the family last photographed together at an event back in April 2016 when they attended the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood.

A few years later in 2019, Ed's older daughter Sophia made an appearance in the audience to watch her father on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. During his interview, Ed revealed to host Ellen DeGeneres that he had kissed Sophia's celebrity crush, Dylan O’Brien, for a role in the comedy series Weird City.

“I was working with Dylan O’Brien, who’s a young, handsome actor, who my daughter has a slight crush on,” said the actor. “And in the story, we kiss. And she had to witness this and was very upset that it was me and not her,” he added of Sophia, who appeared visibly embarrassed in the audience.

“Wow,” DeGeneres 66, said in response. “What are the odds of like an actor you have a crush on kisses your dad?”

Ed said, “Very unlikely,” adding of O’Brien, 32, that he was a “really good kisser.”

In January, Ed shared another revelation when he told former Modern Family costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his podcast Dinner's on Me that he once considered pursuing a life of organized crime prior to embarking on his acting career.

"I had friends whose fathers were in organized crime," said Ed at the time. He then proceeded to tell the story of how a “dear” childhood friend, Jim, took him for a drive and presented him with the tempting offer.

Ed then shared that his father persuaded him against it. “He said, 'I saw you take a ride with Jimmy ... I just wanna ask you a question: Can you do time?' I said, 'No,' " he recalled, adding, "He said, ‘You couldn't do time. You'd have a hard time being in jail, right?’ I said, ‘No, I don't think I could do time.' He said, ‘Okay.' "
