In the new photo shared by Kensington Palace for Louis’ sixth birthday on April 23, the youngest, most mischievous Wales child wore a white, blue, and brown plaid button-up shirt. The long-sleeved top looked rather familiar to royal fans, and it turns out their speculation was correct. Louis isn’t the first royal kiddo to wear the shirt — his older brother, Prince George, was.

The Daily Mail confirmed that, prior to Louis receiving the hand-me-down, George donned the checkered shirt for a 2022 family photo of Queen Elizabeth II and all of her grandchildren except Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. In the portrait taken at Balmoral, the late queen is surrounded by her young relatives, with George standing behind her and beside his sister, Princess Charlotte.

Royal fans praised Kate Middleton for incorporating second-hand garments in Louis’ wardrobe, with several people making comments about the relatable choice on X. “I love that Catherine does this,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Normal family tradition!” Other royal watchers applauded the down-to-earth parenting choice, writing, “Way to go William and Catherine, I grew up in hand me downs.”
